Parmolile Site Profile

Image

The main water source was scoop holes dug in dry riverbeds which was both unsafe and unreliable. The community also experiences a significant amount of human-wildlife conflict with a few reported cases on animals attacking human beings. This posed a huge risk on the women and girls who are tasked with water collection for household use and had to walk for long hours and wait for even longer for the scoop holes to fill with water. Only one household had a toilet which further increased their risk of contracting sanitation related illnesses due to their reliance on surface water which was often contaminated due to open defecation as their main source of drinking water.
